ENGLISH. UNIT 8: ALL AROUND THE TOWN

 Hemos comenzado la Unidad 8 del libro de Inglés, titulada All around the town. En ella l@s niñ@s aprenderán los nombres de los lugares de la ciudad. También aprenderán qué sitios podemos encontrar en una ciudad y a pedir y dar información sobre direcciones. A su vez, aprenderán sobre seguridad vial y los servicios de emergencias de la ciudad.


Al igual que siempre, os recomiendo que hagáis las actividades del libro digital.

NATURAL- UNIT 5: MATTER AND MATERIALS

 

Hemos comenzado la unidad 5 del libro de Ciencias de la Naturaleza, que tiene por título Matter and materials  (“Materia y materiales”), y en ella veremos:

 

·       Los materiales principales: madera, cristal, plástico…

·       La diferencia entre materiales naturales y materiales hechos por el hombre.

·       Las principales propiedades de los materiales.

·       La diferencia entre masa y volumen.

·       La diferencia entre mezclas homogéneas y heterogéneas. Ejemplos en la vida real.

·       Los cambios en la materia.

·       Los estados físicos: sólido, líquido y gas.

·       Los usos de los materiales.

         QUESTIONS TO REVIEW

 

    Name 3 natural materials and 3 man-made materials. For example:

Natural materials: cotton, wool and stone.

Man-made materials: glass, paper and plastic.

    What’s your chair made of ? It’s made of metal and wood.

    Is stone/ wool/ wood/ a car/a pen... natural or man-made? It’s ...

    Is a t-shirt made of cotton or wood? It’s made of cotton.

    Does wood float on water or sink? Wood floats on water.

    Name a material that floats/ sinks. For example: wood floats and stones sink.

    Why are windows made of glass? Because glass is transparent.

    Say a properties of these materials: glass, rock, cotton, rubber and metal:     

Glass is transparent. Rock is hard. Cotton is soft. Rubber is flexible. Metal is magnetic.

    Is plastic waterproof? Yes, it is.  Is paper waterproof? No, it isn’t.

    What type of mixtures are there? Heterogeneous mixtures and homogeneous mixtures.

    Name a homogeneous and a heterogeneous mixture. For example: chocolate milk and pizza.

    What are the three states of matter? Solid, liquid and gas.

     To make ice, do we cool water or heat it? We cool it.

    When we ice skate, is the water solid or liquid? It’s solid.

    Point to something made of glass, point to something waterproof, point to something flexible, point to something opaque, point to something  that we can bend.
