SOCIAL. UNIT 2 "OUR WORLD"

 

Estimadas familias:

      Hemos comenzado la unidad 2 de Social Sciences, que tiene por título Our world (“Nuestro mundo”), y en ella veremos:

•       Distintas formas de representar la Tierra: mapas, globos terráqueos y mapamundis.

•       Los puntos cardinales y la posición del Sol.

•       La división de la Tierra en hemisferio norte y hemisferio sur por el ecuador.

•       La localización de España y algunos otros países.

•       La funcionalidad de los planos para poder orientarnos y seguir instrucciones.

Os adjunto el vocabulario más importante que aprenderá a lo largo de la unidad y algunas preguntas para repasar.

Quisiera animaros a que ayudéis a vuestro/a hijo/a a interiorizar los contenidos utilizando los recursos digitales de los libros.

Asimismo, os invito a buscar con vuestros/as hijos/as mapas o atlas donde poder localizar los variados países del mundo.

Sin duda, vuestra colaboración ayudará a que vuestro/a hijo/a aprenda y se divierta.

QUESTIONS TO REVIEW (Preguntas para repasar)

•   What's the difference between the globe and a map? A globe is round and a map is flat.

•  What imaginary line goes from North Pole to South Pole? The Earth's axis.

•   Which imaginary line divides the Earth into two parts? The Equator.

•   What's the name of each  part? The Equator divides the Earth into the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.

•  How many continents are there? There are 7 seven continents.

•  Name the continents . North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia (in some places they say Oceania) and Antartica.

•  Name one country in North America/ South America/Asia/Africa/Europe/Australia.

•  How many cardinal points are there? There are four cardinal points.

•   Name the cardinal points:  North, South, East and West.

•    Which hemisphere is Spain in? It's in the Northern  Hemisphere.

•    Which continent is Spain in? It’s in Europe.

•    Which countries border Spain? Spain borders Portugal in the west and France and Andorra in the north. Ceuta and Melilla border Morocco.

•    What seas and oceans surround Spain? Spain is surrounded by  the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrian Sea.
