SOCIAL- UNIT 1: "THE SOLAR SYSTEM"

 

Hola de nuevo familias:

    Hemos  comenzado la unidad 1 de Social Sciences. Esta unidad tiene por título The Solar System (“El Sistema Solar”), y en ella aprenderemos:

·       Los planetas y astros que forman nuestro Sistema Solar.

·       Los movimientos de la Tierra que originan la noche y el día, así como las estaciones del año.

·       Las fases de la Luna y su movimiento alrededor de la Tierra.

·       La distinción entre las diferentes capas de la Tierra y su posición.

A continuación, podéis encontrar el vocabulario más importante que aprenderá a lo largo de la unidad, preguntas para repasar y la letra de la canción sobre la Luna que podéis encontrar en los recursos digitales de Social Sciences.

What´s the Earth? The Earth is a planet.

How many planets are there? There  are 8 planets.

Name the 8 planets. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn,  Uranus and Neptune.

What´s the Moon? The Moon is a natural satellite.

What does the Moon go around? The Moon goes around the Earth.

Satellites move around the planets.

Why can't we see other stars during the day? Because the Sun is near the Earth and others stars are very, very far.

What´s the movement of the Earth  around the Sun? It´s Revolution.

What´s the movement of the Earth on its axis? It´s  Rotation.

How long does it take for the Earth to go around the Sun? It takes 1 year/365 days/ 12 months /4 seasons.

How long does it take for the Earth to move on its axis? It takes 24 hours/ 1 day.

Does the Moon have light? No, the Moon reflects sunlight. That´s why we can see different parts of the Moon. These shapes are the phases of the Moon.

How long does it take for the Moon to move around the Earth?. It takes 28 days.

What can we see on the Earth? We can see continents, islands and water.

What´s around the Earth? It´s the atmosphere.

What are the three layers of the Earth? They are crust, mantle and core.
